We made it halfway, y'all Posted by Meg at 07/19/08 12:51 PM

After cutting a jagged-looking S-shaped route across the eastern half of the US for the past 53 days, the Cover America Tour landed in Austin, TX marking the halfway point in the trip.

We've driven through 25 states and filmed nearly 50 health care stories, and now we're taking the weekend to re-fuel here in Austin. Between the stellar Tex-Mex and the famous local barbeque, there's no shortage of 'fuel' in the Lone Star State's capital.

We'll set off again Monday morning with full bellies and clean laundry (at least, that's the plan), heading due north through America's heartland for the next week. When we hit North Dakota we'll hang a left, and we'll keep going west until we find the Pacific - then down the coast and to the southwest states.

Do you live west of the Mississippi and have a health care story to share? Let us know, and we might make your town a stop on the Cover America Tour.

Cover America Tour Consumer Reports Health talks to Americans about the challenges they've experienced getting the affordable, high quality health care they need.
